Christmas with Morales
Do video game characters decorate a Christmas tree during the holidays? #christmas #videogame
Welcome back to Artcade, where Christmas is celebrated together, meals are shared and, thankfully, digestion happens alone. Today’s episode is a short one, just to wish you happy holidays and to thank you for your continued support of this quirky little project. Have a wonderful holiday season!
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales takes place at that time of the year when we all face life’s most crucial question: will they like the present I got them?
Miles Morales (the protagonist—why else would his name be in the title?) is walking through the streets of Harlem, where the holiday spirit is in full swing. In this scene (photo above), we see him on his way to buy tangerines because their peels are essential for playing bingo. (I wonder if the tradition of covering numbers on bingo cards with fruit peels, lentils, or other odd objects exists elsewhere in the world or if it's unique to the Italian Christmas.)
Once home, in an atmosphere as somber as the story’s drama (sadly, the tangerines were sold out), Miles approaches the Christmas tree. Could there be a Switch 2 among the presents? Sorry, Miles, but Nintendo’s new console won’t be out until next year. I hope you’re into new socks.

I think Santa Claus should thank Artcade and our entire community for helping to boost his brand with this episode. But we all know that the bearded hermit only shows up once a year and then disappears. What does he do for the other 364 days? I bet he spends the first few days meeting with lawyers to secure a new contract with some famous beverage brand. Then, he locks himself up at home with a console he "forgot" to deliver and spends his days gaming. Smart guy. Until the next episode, merry Christmas!
